I love these hair bows, and they really only take 5 minutes to put together! If you are looking for a last minute 4th of July craft, this one is perfect! I had bought a big bag of these great korker hair ribbons last year, and they have been sitting in a drawer since I received them. I had every intention of using them, but the instructions on Amazon weren’t very clear and I just didn’t have the time to sit down to figure out how to turn this bag of curly ribbon into a cute hair accessories. Honestly, it was so insanely easy and it made me feel pretty dumb for putting this project off for such a long time. This post has a lot of pictures- but they are step by step directions, if you follow the directions this craft will be easy-peasy for you!
Step One: Gather your supplies. You just need some korker hair ribbons, a hot glue gun and a hair clip of your choosing. I used 9 hair ribbons because my daughter is just 3 and I didn’t want the bow to overwhelm her head, if you want a fuller look just use 12 ribbons instead.
Step Two: Pull your hair ribbons straight. I used other hair clips to weigh them down but you can also use binder clips or even large paper clips. Straightening them out will make it easier to glue them together. They don’t need to be perfectly straight, just enough so you can put some glue in the middle.
Step Three: First put a drop of hot glue in the middle of the white ribbon. Before the glue hardens, place the red ribbon on top at a slight angle. You will want to angle your ribbons as you glue them so that your hair bow turns out nice and full.
Step Four: Put a dot of hot glue on the red ribbon, right in the middle like you did with the previous ribbon. Next, place the blue ribbon on top before the glue hardens. I am placing all ribbons on a slight angle, rather than right on top of each other.
Step Five: Continue gluing and layering, this is what it will look like when you have 6 of the ribbons glued.
Step Six: Keep going! This is what it looks like with all 9 ribbons. It looks like a big, hot mess! Let it sit for a minute to let all the glue really dry.
Step Seven: Here’s the fun part! Unclip all the hair bows and let it curl up, you can fluff it up a little. My daughter has wild and crazy curly hair, so this hair bow is going to look so great! Final step: just glue this onto a clip of your choice and you are done!
This is so insanely easy to make and it looks great! I can’t for my daughter to wear this on the 4th this year!
