Ok, I am going to be embarrassingly honest here. I have zero fashion sense. As in, none whatsoever. When I was younger and didn’t have kids, I would take the time to try to piece an outfit together. Nowadays I’m just happy if my jeans don’t have any noticeable stains. I really want to be cute and dress a little nicer, I just don’t have the time or patience to shop in regular stores. Have you ever tried taking a toddler to the mall? It’s the opposite of productive. So I signed up for Golden Tote to try out some new styles.
Golden Tote is pretty awesome. It’s a service that let’s you choose the number of items you want, and they send you a surprise tote based off your selections and your style profile. I bought a tote in late June and early July for a vacation in mid-July. Sadly, the clothes arrived the day after I left for my vacation. I was so bummed! It wasn’t Golden Tote’s fault, I should have ordered earlier- but it meant a lot of clothes went back because I didn’t really need vacation outfits anymore.
All the clothes come in a really cute tote bag. I use reusable bags pretty frequently, so I’m always happy to get more! Here are the clothes for July:
I chose the red dress and the bottom blue dress, the rest of the clothes were surprises. I LOVED the dresses that I picked out- they were summery and fun, but still modest enough for a nursing mom. The rest of the clothes just didn’t work for me. The 3/4 sleeve tops were boxy and thinner than I thought they would be. The blue swing dress did nothing for my figure. Luckily, returns are super easy- so those items went right back into the box to be returned.
On to June:
I chose the elephant dress and the black patterned tank, the rest were surprises. I love the elephant dress on the model, it looked awful on me. I think because I’m still nursing my proportions are a bit off, the dress was not flattering in the slightest! I was SO sad to return it! The black tank was also pretty boxy and I just didn’t love it, so it went in the return box as well.
I did try on all the items they sent me, and I was not in love with any of it. The blue blazer made me look like a homeless librarian. Wearing a plaid dress in my mid-30’s really made me feel like I was trying too hard to be young. Like I said, returns are super easy so I just sent everything back after filling out a quick form on their website.
Here is the really great part- Golden Tote noticed I returned a ton of clothes and they sent me an email asking how they could style my box differently next time as they could tell I wasn’t happy with what I received. What amazing customer service! I’m going back in and updating my style profile soon, they were really helpful in suggesting how I could update my profile to really reflect my style. I am such a huge fan of great customer service! Even though most of these clothes didn’t work for me, I will definitely be using Golden Tote in the future again!
